Extraordinary Marriage Awards 2008
The Utah Commission on Marriage honored 11 couples for their Extraordinary Marriages at an awards luncheon on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.
Lt. Gov. Gary R. Herbert and Mrs. Jeanette Herbert, and Adjutant General Brian Tarbet and Mrs. Mary Tarbet presented certificates signed by Governor and Mrs. Jon Huntsman Jr. for Gold Medal Marriages, Longest Married Couples, and Valorous Military Marriages. Bob and Randy Harmon of Harmons Grocery Stores presented each couple with a Desirable Dozen rose bouquet.
Gold Medal Marriages exemplify durability, diligence, and devotion above and beyond the ordinary. Longest Married Couples are Utah couples that have been married over 69 years. Valorous Military Marriages are marriages that have weathered the storms of military life with courage, fortitude and love despite the unique challenges involved with service to our country.
